Small Hands Sewing: This is the perfect class for small, eager hands that aren't quite ready for machine sewing. Students will use felt and embroidery thread to learn various stitches such as- over cast, running stitch, hem stitch and more! Make 2 projects: a framed art piece and an adorable owl pin cushion. Mommy & Me Sewing: Create memories with your daughter as you both learn to sew an American Girl costume! This class is designed to get students ready for Beginning Sewing. Girls will learn to familiarize themselves with the machine but moms will primarily use it. Students will learn hand sewing techniques, how to use a pattern and complete 1 doll outfit. American Girl Doll Tea Party on the last day of class! Tuition for 8 - 90 minute class sessions is $225. 6-8 students maximum. prerequisite: Student needs their own machine and supplies. Beginning SewingThis class is a perfect transition from the Mommy and Me sewing class. We will focus on small projects that can be completed in 2-3 weeks maximum. We will be sewing from small, manageable patterns. The students will learn to follow step by step instructions. This is a skill based learning class focusing on the fundamentals of sewing. See below.Minimum of 2 sewing projects. Future classes will do a ministry project. Student will: Learn how to thread upper and lower threads Know sewing terms Know parts of sewing machine Sew straight lines, curves and corners Learn how to pivot Learn how to trim seams Learn how to sew a 3/8 in. and 5/8 in. seam Learn seam finishes Learn how to clip curves and notch. Complete a project by following step by step instructions Learn how to press their fabric Sew a hemSew on various kinds of buttons. Students provide their own machines and sewing supplies. Intermediate Sewing This class is for those students who have had beginning sewing either with myself or another teacher (Fashion Camp ok). They must be able to thread their machine and wind a bobbin. They are required to know sewing terms and have knowledge of sewing tools. Do they feel confident with straight stitches and simple patterns? Are they ready to challenge themselves and take their sewing to the next level? This class is for students with some sewing experience and will focus on garment construction using a pattern. Student will learn to read a pattern and follow step by step instructions. Minimum of 2 projects plus 1 ministry project. Tuition $310 plus $10 Supply Fee- semester fee
Girl's Night Out Sewing (or day!): Dust off your sewing machine (or take it out of the box) and enjoy 7 class sessions learning to sew. All levels welcome! Tuition is $200 (does not include materials). A supply list will be sent to registrants before the first class. They will complete one project (apron or bag) and learn skills to sew on their own! The host gets 1/2 price for opening her home. 5 attendees minimum. prerequisite: Student needs their own machine and supplies.
